Sunnycott Caravan Park in Cowes, Isle of Wight
Sunnycott is a small independent caravan park on the Isle of Wight set in secluded rolling countryside 2.5 miles west of the sailing town of Cowes in the hamlet of Gurnard. The Park has 21 static caravans each with a brilliant view across open fields and is set a short distance from the Solent shoreline.

As well as self catering caravans we also offer bed and breakfast with continental style breakfast. There are many walks you can take directly from Sunnycott through woodland areas that lead directly onto the beach. A five minute drive or 30 minute walk will take you to Gurnard seafront a busy myriad of dingies, sailing boats, jet skies and wake boards. This is a place for swimmers and snoozers alike.
From Gurnard you can walk the full length of the flat esplanade into Cowes the home of yacht sailing that hosts the infamous Cowes Week, the Round the Island Race and the many sailing regattas throughout the year that attract visitors from around the globe.
Island Walkers and Cyclists
Walkers, runners, cyclists and horse riders have immediate access from Sunnycott to the 500 plus miles of green signed walking routes and blue signed cycle routes that help you to explore deep into the heart of the Island. The round the Island coastal path can be accessed from Sunnycott and The Park is directly on the round the Island cycle route. A superb location to start your Randonnee in May or the Walk the Wight.
For off road cyclists follow the many blue signed cycle paths that are routed all over the Island. For adventure why not join the Tennyson Trail and head off into the woods where downhill is plentiful. There are always plenty of sporting events to chose from.
The Beautiful Isle of Wight
A few miles drive from Sunnycott along the north west side of the Island you will find Newtown and Yar Estuaries a place of outstanding natural beauty that attracts many visitors to see the wading and migratory birds. Kayakers frequent the area to soak up the spectacular scenery and to relax on the river at high tide.
Carry on your journey towards Freshwater and Yarmouth to find The Needles where you can take the chair lift down to the beach, collect your coloured sand and venture to the very edge of the Island.
Looking for Sandy Beaches?
If you are looking for sandy beaches a drive on quiet country roads will take you to the south west side of the Isle of Wight.
Here you will find many bays and unspoilt beaches where the surf gets high. A popular destination for surfers, water kite users and sunbathers. At Compton beach the sun sets over the bay and is ideal for family days out. Beautiful on any day of the year!
Sandown, Ventnor and Ryde
For more touristy areas Sandown, Ventnor and Ryde offer sandy beaches and amusements. The Island is host to many tourist attractions, theme parks, museums and some of the most historic houses in the country. Carisbrooke Castle and Yarmouth Castle are popular visiting sites. At Carisbrooke Castle you can see the donkey walk the water wheel. Osbourne House was Queen Victoria’s famous summer house and is open to visitors throughout the year.
